Syed Abrar Hazara
Syed Ibrar Hussain Shah was born on February 9, 1961, at Quetta. He started his career in 1978 and has been national champion since 1982. He is a seasoned boxer having represented the country in the Asian Games, 1984 & 1988 Olympics, 14th Commonwealth Games at Auckland in 1990, and Asian Boxing Championship besides a dozen international events. Syed Ibrar Hussain is the winner of bronze medal in the 10th Asian Games at Seoul in 1986. He also won gold medal each in 2nd and 4th SAF Games. He won gold medal in the 11th Asian Games. He annexed a number of medals in various international competitions. He was conferred the award of Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the president of Pakistan on August 14, 1989. At present He is serving as Director, National Sports Training & Coaching centre, Quetta.
Mr. Asghar Ali Hazara
Currently serving as Pakistan boxing team’s captain, a talented and agile Boxer Mr. Asghar Ali Changezi was born at Hyderabad on 21 st January 1978. He took the Boxing zealously at an early age and won U-14 and U-16 Boxing Championships respectively. In 1996 he participated in Professor Anwar Chowdhry Junior Boxing Tournament in Azerbaijan and won Bronze medal. He also won Bronze Medal in Asian Boxing Championships at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1997. In 1998 Commonwealth Games he represented Pakistan and was the only Silver Medallist in the Pakistan Contingent. He won Gold Medal in Pre-Olympic Boxing Tournament held in South Korea, 2000 and qualified for Sydney Olympic Games. He represented Pakistan team in Professor Anwar Chowdhry International Boxing Tournament in Azerbaijan in 2002 where he gave excellent performance and won Gold Medal. He was also declared best boxer of the tournament. Keeping in view his excellent performance he was included in Boxing Team in light- wilter weight category for 14 th Asian Games held in South Korea in September/October 2002 in which he won Silver Medal and brought laurels for the country.
Mr. Haider Ali Hazara
Haider Ali was born on 12 November 1979 in Quetta, Pakistan. An outstanding boxer, Mr. Haider Ali has become something of a living legend in the history of Pakistan boxing. His explosive speed and resourcefulness has made him a constant threat to opposing boxers. It is a treat for boxing lovers to watch him in action. He started Boxing at an early age and became the National Champion in 1998. He won Gold Medals in Green Hill International Boxing Tournament held at Karachi in 1998 and Late Imam Khomeini International Boxing Tournament held in Iran, 1999. He represented Pakistan in 1999 SAF Games held in Nepal where again he won a Gold Medal. Haider Ali emerged as the new Asian Boxing Champion when he won a Gold Medal in XXI Asian Boxing Championship held in Malaysia during June, 2002. He remained unbeaten till the final round when he drubbed Thailand’s Champion Pugilist to claim the Asian title. He fought courageously against heavy odds and got the honour of ‘The Best Boxer of the tournament’ which is really an honour for Pakistan . He has been instrumental in projecting the image of Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games held in Manchester from 25 th July to 4 th August 2002. He boxed with great courage and determination to reach the final and was pitted against the Indian boxer Som Bahadur Pun. He defeated the Indian boxer by a wide margin of 28-10 in a four-round final and won first-ever-Gold Medal for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games. Currently Mr. Haider Ali is living in Walsall, England.
Syed Hussain Shah
Syed Hussain Shah was born on June 1, 1961 at Karachi. He has become a living legend in the history of Pakistan Boxing. He is widely considered to be one of the best boxers of Asia. It has been a treat for the boxing audiences to see him in action. He had made his international debut at the first South Asian Games held in Nepal in 1984 and won a gold Medal for his country. He again won Gold Medals in the 2nd and 3rd SAF Games held in Dhaka in 1985 and Calcutta in 1987 respectively .
In 1996, he participated in the President’s Cup Boxing tournament held in Jakarta and won a Gold m edal. He has to his credit the prestigious Asian Gold medal which was won by him in the 13th Asian Boxing Championships held at Kuwait, in 1987.
Syed Hussain Shah had performed creditably well at the 1986 Olympic Games where he won a first-ever Bronze Medal in Boxing for Pakistan and was instrumental in projecting the image of the country in the world of Boxing.
